“The Busselton Jetty experience takes you 1.8 kilometres out to sea, on the longest timber-piled jetty in the southern hemisphere.”
Stroll or take a ride in the new electric Jetty Train over the waters of Geographe Bay to the Underwater Observatory. Their experienced guides lead you through the natural wonders that lie beneath the Jetty where its piles create Australia’s greatest artificial reef, host to an awe inspiring “forest” of vividly-coloured tropical and sub-tropical corals, sponges, fish and invertebrates.
Descend eight metres beneath the water’s surface to view more than 300 individual marine species in their natural habitat through eleven viewing windows at various levels in an observation chamber. Ride the train back to shore to their Interpretive Centre, Museum and Gift Shop to learn more about the history of the jetty and its diverse marine life. Explore their interactive displays and bring home some unique gifts and souvenirs. During summer visitors can also enjoy an Undersea Helmet Walk, Mermaid Tour, Sunset Train Ride, Underwater Night Tour, paddle boats with water slide and clear bottom kayaks.
Reviews
The walk to the end of the jetty is well worth the effort and the train ride back is a great reward for the effort of walking out! The train drivers are a wealth of interesting info about the area.
