“The Captain Harry Butler Red Monoplane Memorial houses a static display of the Captain's famous little monoplane Red Devil and celebrates his life and achievements.”
Harry Butler was a local boy who grew up with a fascination for flight, including that of his mother's chooks! Using his own resources he travelled to England to join the air force during the First World War, and in time become a gifted instructor and heroic pilot. An information booklet is available from Yorke Peninsula Visitor Information Centre at Minlaton for the cost of AUD3.50.
While in the area you can visit Minlaton Museum for further information on this fascinating story. The display is adjacent to a newly upgraded playground, toilets and picnic area and is a great place for you and your family to stop for a break.
