“the hub of Sydney Harbour”
Circular Quay is a bustling transport hub where trains, ferries and buses converge. It's also a great place to sit by the harbour to watch buskers including indigenous performers, fire-eaters, jugglers and musicians keeping the crowds entertained. If you want to explore Sydney Harbour, take a harbour cruise from here, or board a ferry for Manly, Taronga Zoo, Watsons Bay or board a RiverCat to travel along the Parramatta River. Follow the Writers' Walk along the foreshore and uncover a series of plaques celebrating well-known Australian writers. Your final destination along the walk is one of the world's most famous buildings, the World Heritage-listed Sydney Opera House. Be sure to step inside the beautiful sails of the building by taking a behind-the-scenes tour or book tickets to see a show. Choose from opera and classical ballet to contemporary dance, symphony concerts, cutting-edge theatre and comedy. The Opera House has an excellent selection of dining spots including the Opera Bar, Opera Kitchen, Bistro Mozart and Studio Cafe. From Circular Quay, wander along the foreshore in the other direction, passing beneath the Sydney Harbour Bridge to admire this astonishing piece of engineering from below. Climb to the Pylon Lookout to learn more about bridge. Dawes Point Reserve is one of the best places in Sydney to capture the perfect picture of the Opera House.
