“Triabunna is a scenic port-side town and the gateway to the natural wonders and historic sites of Maria Island.”
Nestled within Spring Bay and surrounded by inviting beaches, hills and eucalyptus forest, the town of Triabunna sits at the doorstep of some of Tasmania's most beautiful places including Maria Island National Park, while Spring Bay itself is known for producing some of the best mussels in the world.
The waters off Triabunna are also among the best temperate dive sites in the world with beautiful kelp forests and coral reefs to explore. Fishing and sailing are also popular aquatic activities.
The visitor information centre has wall tapestries depicting the area's rich Aboriginal and European history and the Tasmanian Seafarers Memorial provides an insight into the area's maritime past.
The town offers accommodation, shops, galleries and tearooms and the local marina is a great place to sample the succulent local scallops, mussels and abalone while taking in the view.
Triabunna is just over a 1-hr drive (88 km) north-east of Hobart.
