Go back in time 100 years and join the characters of Avonlea for a fun day of interactive experiences. Kitchen parties, family shows, horse and wagon rides, oyster shucking, spoons lessons, dance lessons, and pig races are a few of the highlights. Avonlea was the fictitious name that Island author, Lucy Maud Montgomery gave to Cavendish in her most famous novel, Anne of Green Gables. Avonlea Village has 5 different restaurants on site, The Each is open at different times, typically only for a short time in the summer. The Anne of Green Gables Store is open until the end of October. Call or check the website for details.
I don't know the history of this "village" -- reading old reviews, it appears they used to have actors dressed like characters from the "Anne" books, re-enacting scenes from the novels.... Read more
