“Canada’s rich and unique aviation heritage”
Several one-of-a-kind aircraft – retrieved across Canada from mountainsides to the bottom of lakes – have been restored and curated to showcase the story of Canada’s rich and unique aviation heritage. Flying under primitive conditions over vast, difficult terrain in the most challenging weather conditions, the early bush pilots created legends for themselves and their country. This period was the most colourful, adventure-crammed and remarkable era of Canada’s aviation history. Many of the early bush pilots went on to fly with the military and civil airlines that were created after the bush plane proved the value of flying. These pilots and engineers often worked closely with manufacturers of engines or aircraft to introduce innovative ideas and helped evolve the next generation of flight.
