“The Seed”

A stand-alone sculpture in the shape of a koru, Te Kakano is the first step, a test in the building of a new Art Centre honouring the work of Friedensreich Hundertwasser. Locals and tourists are able to sit on a bench seat inside the lower spiral, climb up to the look out on the outer ramp, and go inside the inner room to see the ceramic columns. The structure was built to train craftsmen in the techniques and skills of Hundertwasser's no straight lines philosophy, giving the sculpture it's unique look.
