“Saving the world, one beer at a time.”
Invercargill Brewery was set up by Steve Nally in 1999.
He'd returned from his OE inspired by the fine beer and cider he'd enjoyed in the UK and Europe, so decided to combine starting a family with starting a brewery (as you do).
Using home-grown ingredients likes Gladfield Malt, Central Otago Apples and Nelson Hops he set about making a uniquely Kiwi range of Craft Beers and Ciders to begin Saving the World - One Beer at a Time.
The traditioNALLY range of beers and ciders grew, and began winning awards both home and abroad with a range of firsts - B.man lager became the style icon for a new world cup beer style - NZ strong Pilsner; Smokin’ Bishop was the world’s first Manuka Smoked Beer long before commercially smoked malt was available, his Sa!son became the country’s first saison style beer and Boysenbeery - which was then and is still now one of the fruitiest beers around.
And there have been many many more both then and still to come. You’ll read about them in books like World’s Best Beers and various iterations of Beers to Drink Before You die, as well as the Kiwi books like Beer Nation.
In 2014 the brewery, now in it’s third Invercargill home, introduced the Southern Malt Collective - what began as a collaborative brew quickly morphed into an industry-specific education forum attracting some of the best and brightest from New Zealand’s craft brew scene.
Pop in for a warm Southern welcome - take a tour, have a pint or buy a bottle or maybe catch a gig ... and play a vital part in Saving the World, One Beer at a Time.
