- Yachats name comes from the Siletz language, and means "dark water at the foot of the mountain".
- The North Fork of the Yachats Bridge is a covered bridge in the Yachats River Valley, which was completed in 1938 and was the last bridge of veteran bridge builder Otis Hamer.
- The Siuslaw National Forest borders Yachats on the east and consists of over 630,000 acres extending from Coos Bay in the south to Tillamook in the north.
- The Smelt Sands State Wayside, a mile north of Yachats features the 0.75-mile historic 804 Trail.
- The Heceta Head Trail in Yachats, leads to the 1,000-foot-high historic light and the light keeper's house. The lighthouse went into operation in 1894.
