The appeal in the TV drama "Gossip Girl" is, in my opinion, mostly that everyone wishes they had the glamorous life of a young, popular, rich New York socialite like Serena or Blair. They wore designer clothes, did classy things like go to the ballet, ate truffle grilled cheeses, and (most importantly) had exciting drama, like deciding whether to marry the Prince of Monaco or your on-and-off-again bad boy ex. We commoners can at least get a taste for the rich life of NYC's elite by visiting these Gossip Girl filming locations on the Upper East Side.
Chuck Bass, 'Gossip Girl''s resident bad boy, and his adopted family, the Van der Woodsons, live at the fittingly named New York Palace Hotel.
The Sherry Netherland, on the other hand, is where troublemaker Georgina stays.
Later on, Chuck's home/office is at The Empire Hotel.
And if you're ever having a fashion emergency, head to Henri Bendel!
Or Missoni. Basically, any designer store on the Upper East Side.
The Museum of The City of New York was used for exterior shots of the Constance Billiard School for Girls.
The filming location for St. Jude School for Boys is actually the Synod of Bishops Russian Orthodox Church.
There's also the steps of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, which is where Serena and Co. like to eat lunch. While it's nowhere near the Museum of the City of New York, other private school students do reportedly hang out here.
Barrio Chino is a great place to get drunk on Thanksgiving and run into your ex.
And said ex may or may not be buying pies from Erin McKenna's Babycakes. They do more than just Thanksgiving desserts...and make sure you don't drop your goodies!
Dan also goes with Vanessa to Dylan's Candy Bar... it's the perfect place pick up some sour gummy worms for you and your date's anniversary!
The famous Russian Tea Room also makes an appearance as well.
Another wedding occurs at the Cooper-Hewitt - National Design Museum.
The Grand Army Plaza is a good place to get a cab (don't even think about taking the subway) out of the hell that is Brooklyn, like Serena and Colin.
You can catch a train into town at Grand Central Terminal the way Serena does in the first episode.
The Oak Room at The Plaza is where Blair tells Chuck she has to break up with Louis, aka The Prince.
