Wisconsin is a state mostly known for its beer and its cheese... so it's hard to think of anything else that can improve upon that. At least, it's a challenge to think of anything until you consider that it's home to Wisconsin Dells, the Waterpark Capital of the World. Not only was the indoor waterpark invented in The Dells, they have the highest concentration of waterparks on the planet, and they also lead the way in inventing the most (and the coolest) new slides and attractions each year. Still don't believe it? Here's our guide to the best waterparks in The Dells-- they all look so fun, it's a challenge to choose just one!
Chula Vista Resort
The Lost Rios Indoor Waterpark at Chula Vista Resort has something for everyone: splash zones and water attractions for small kids, pools and an action river to accommodate groups of all ages, and racing slides and the world's fastest and longest uphill indoor water roller coaster. Whew! There's also an outdoor waterpark with a beach, a huge wave pool, a pool for water sports, and an awesome kiddie river so the little ones can get their float on. Add that to the fact that there's a spa with outdoor hot springs, a golf course, an arcade, and tons more, and you've pretty much got the perfect year-round family vacation spot.
Kalahari Resort
Kalahari Resort is all about having a good time. Swim up bars, surfing experiences, waterslides with rafts that can fit the whole crew, family indoor/outdoor hot tubs, and private indoor cabanas with flat screen TVs make this place party central. There's also an indoor theme park with a Ferris wheel, bowling, ropes courses, laser tag, and go-karts, among other features, and an outdoor waterpark with even more slides and pools for everyone to enjoy. Pro tip: you can rent out a mermaid/merman costume for a few hours and play pretend!
Mt. Olympus Water and Theme Park
With indoor and outdoor theme and waterparks, Mt. Olympus can entertain, no matter the weather. Inside, you can find rocking climbing, bumper cars, ball pits, rides, hot tubs, whirlpools, and more than a few twisting slides. And if the weather permits, head outside to try one of their many rollercoasters, innertube water slides, or their massive wave pool. Plus, they have accommodation options that range from high-end resorts to camping out in their treehouse-inspired cabins!
Noah's Ark
Welcome to Noah's Ark, America's largest waterpark! They've seriously got tons of stuff to see and do, from intense thrill slides to attractions for the smaller ones to group rides that can fit the whole family. There are two huge wave pools, bumper boats, a "dive-in" 4D theater, and, of course, the Scorpion's Tail, which is the country's first near-vertical-looping waterslide.
Great Wolf Lodge
From four-story slides to water fort treehouses, this Great Wolf Lodge is an indoor waterpark and resort that's totally awesome. Kids will love the pools and small slides, teens will love the more intense attractions like Lookout Mountain and Coyote Canyon, and adults will enjoy unwinding in the hot spring-inspired hot tubs or cool cabanas. Plus, with tons of dining options and places to shop, and rustic-themed suites, this place is a blast for the young and young-at-heart.
Wilderness Hotel & Golf Resort
And then there's the Wilderness Hotel & Golf Resort. While the parents are hitting the links or relaxing at the spa, kids can choose between several different indoor and outdoor waterparks. The adventurous will love the slides at Klondike Kaverns, pro swimmers will enjoy America's largest indoor wave pool at Wild WaterDome, and smaller kids can play at Cubby's Cavern... and those are just the indoor waterparks. Outside, parks like Lost World and Lake Wilderness boast interactive lazy rivers, wild twisting slides, and huge pools with lounging islands in them. Seriously, does it get any more epic than that? Oh, and a swim up bar just opened at their indoor waterpark...so adults can enjoy themselves too! :)
