“your gateway to adventure”
Nestled between the breathtaking San Juan and Sangre de Cristo Mountains at 7,550 feet, the San Luis Valley is your gateway to adventure. Our KOA is near the golden ridges of the Great Sand Dunes National Park and Preserve, where you can hike dunes up to 750 feet tall. It's also at the base of Colorado's fourth tallest mountain, 14,345-foot Blanca Peak. We are close to several charming historic Colorado towns, museums, hot-spring pools, an alligator park, spectacular trails, numerous wildlife refuges, downtown Alamosa and a championship golf course. Or take a ride on the Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad in nearby Antonito. There is so much to do here in the valley, so plan to stay a few days and explore! Then come back to the campground to enjoy our amenities and activities. Pool: Memorial Weekend - Labor Day Weekend. Max pull thru: 100 feet. Your hosts: Owners: Deb Hankinson and Les Petersen, Managers: Jo and Dale Parent.

Stopped here one night on a holiday weekend. Lots are very close together. No grass and very little shade. Lots of families with big rigs and kids for which this place is well-suited. Restrooms/showers were clean and adequate. Friendly staff.

Rate reflects monthly stay offered due to Covid. The new owners are very nice here. We got there Mother’s Day weekend and it was empty. By the time we left, Sand Dunes NP was open and it was busy. Our site was level and facilities were clean. Awesome views of Blanca Peak. Super close to Alamosa and Monte Vista National Wildlife Refuges for birdwatching. Would stay here again.

This was an easy KOA to find not far off of the highway. The site was a little short and close together. Quiet. Staff was helpful. They Bake pizza and will bring it to your site, reasonable.

After my discount the price was 43.00. I asked if they had a dump station. They said it would be 10.00 more to dump. I left.

We've stayed here 2 or 3 times for anywhere from 2 nights to over a week, as we pass through Alamosa. It is one of our "old reliable" parks. The owners are super nice and focused on making your stay a good one. You can order pizza which they deliver to your rig. It's far enough from town that it is quiet, but close enough to be convenient for any shopping or picking up takeout that you may want to do. The views from the park are nice and it has a peaceful feel - big trees in some places, not just a bare sand lot like some. It's a KOA, so by law you have to be able to hear a train now and then LOL but it's distant and not an issue at this one. Convenient to the Great Sand Dunes. Nice dog park, and there's also a pool and some amenities for kids. Nice laundry room with bottles of bleach sanitizer to use before & after, on top of them keeping the place spotless. We never hesitate to stay here, and the owners feel like people we'd be friends with if we were local. Genuine, nice people.

We got the last available site (#1) next to the store and playground. Very kid friendly place! A little pricey but clean, convenient, safe and nicely maintained amenities.

Posting this review a bit late due to no service, but we dumped here on 05/26/22. It was $15 to use the dump station and it had non-potable right next to it. Easy access and the guys driving around where very friendly!

The good: friendly staff, nice playground, pool, clean bathrooms and showers. The bad: little shade, nothing is paved in a very windy/dusty area. I don’t understand why KOAs charge so much, yet few have paved spots-roads. The pool was nice, but way too small. There were 60 people in a pool I estimate to be 40x20. My 9 year old is swim crazy and she said “ there are too many big people (adults) in the pool”. The store was typically overpriced, $5 for a box of crackers. 30 minutes from Great Sand Dunes. Wi-Fi did not perform consistently.

The staff is very polite & accommodating however for the grounds, pool & showers have not been well maintained. The landscaping around the main building is beautiful, the rest just weeds & rocks. Our site’s picnic table is old and full of splinters. The showers are clean but in need of updating. The pool is very poorly maintained. It has a liner that is stained, wrinkled in the bottom & the edging is cracked & filthy. For the price that is being charged I expected a better maintained park. It is located on Hwy 160 and there is a lot of road noise.
