“Treat yourself to Nature in Sandstone!”
Treat yourself to a visit to Banning State Park, just minutes off I-35 near Sandstone. In the spring, watch daring canoeists and kayakers shoot the turbulent rapids at Blueberry Slide, Mother's Delight, Dragon's Tooth and Hell's Gate. In the summer, hike along the Kettle River amid dramatic sandstone rock formations with lush lichens, liverworts and mosses. Visit Wolf Creek Falls, the Log Creek Arches and Robinson's Ice Cave. Stay at the new camper cabin (sleeps five people), which includes bunk beds, a table and benches. Take in the historic ruins of Banning Sandstone Quarry. The park is known for camping, picnicking, cross-country skiing, beautiful trails for hiking and the study of natural history.

Banning is located just off I35 but you would never know it; unlike other parks close to highways, we didn’t hear any road noise at all. Small campground (34 sites including one cabin, about a third with electric). Some sites (18-34 especially) offer great privacy. Clean bathrooms. Great hiking trails (although the Wolf Creek Trail between the split from High Bluff and the falls is not marked and can get a little confusing to navigate). The Quarry Loop Trail is also interesting and you can pick up an interpretive map.

Showers closed due to COVID. It can be unpleasant if it rains hard around there. Long dirt roads to campsites. But the trails are awesome and great location from the interstate.

Great small park. Beautiful hiking trails. The road is narrow making backing a trailer in a little tight.

We love the park, however, we are very disappointed that this is at least two years without a shower facility. We will not book another camping site until this is remedied. Thank you.
$45 a night for dry camping!!!!!! (That includes the $7 registration fee, AND $7 per car per night fee.) Wayyyyy overpriced. Our site was a nightmare to get into with a small 25 foot camper. The brush is way overgrown, and our site was not on an angle, so it made it hard with all the brush and trees to turn to get into. It should be made a tent only site. We did take one of the paths and that was nice. The vault toilets were clean but they stunk terribly!!!!
The road in was muddy gravel and washboard. Our site was also a muddy mess.
Shame on Minnesota for way overpricing!! Shame on me for paying it!!!!!
No internet and TV reception. No showers..... NOTHING!
We couldn't wait to leave!
Worst state park we have EVER been too!
