“Where Roosevelt & Einstein once stayed”
Set on the Grand Canyon's rim, this limestone and pine landmark hotel was built in 1905 to evoke a Swiss chalet and a Norweigan villa. Rooms and suites are individually decorated in styles ranging from modern to traditional and are equipped with cable TV and coffeemakers. Some suites include balconies and in-room dining is available. There's a rustic-chic, upscale American restaurant with seasonal outdoor seating, an art-filled lounge and a gift shop. Parking is free.
Reviews
Although the nicest of the park hotels, El Tavor leaves little to to be desired. It's really expensive and mislabeled a four star hotel. The location is great - right on the rim - but that's about all it's worth.
Busy and pretty rustic (and by "rustic" I mean "kind of old") but the views are worth it. It's a little pricey for what it is, but you won't find anything nicer in the park. Book as far in advance as you can.
Location, location, location. The lobby is impressive and the restaurant is good. The rooms was dated and very overpriced. Wifi poor, TV signal poor, parking 25 min walk away, didn't get help with my bags and no lift. Overall disappointed.
