“built in 1908!”
Brownies Hostel and Bakery was built in 1908 with help of the Great Northern Railway to provide housing for the workers that were building the Glacier Park Lodge at the time. Before becoming Hostel and Bakery, the store during the 60′s was the place to party in East Glacier Park Village (formerly named Midvale, named after the creek at the entrance of the town). It wasn’t until late 90′s that it became Brownies Hostel and Bakery (member of Hostel International). Brownies Hostel is the only Hostel International Member in the state of Montana.Nowadays, Brownies Hostel and Bakery, it’s the town’s favorite Bakery and Coffee shop and a grocery store, conveniently located in the lower level of the building. We are open from middle May through the last week of September, weather permitting. All of hour baked good are home made and they are baked early morning. We have a friendly staff that will help you with any questions you have about the area and the park.
