Springbrook Nature Center is a uniquely diverse natural area of native habitats and wildlife. It has 127 acres of native prairies, oak and aspen forests, oak savannah, and extensive wetlands. Springbrook is a popular City of Fridley park, and is a destination for people from the greater Minneapolis St. Paul regional metropolitan area. Its three miles of hiking trails, floating boardwalks, and interpretive center live animal exhibits are an attraction for families, children and friends. In a typical year, Springbrook hosts 200,000 visitations and provides more than 700 program opportunities. In Springbrook's exhibit room, you get a close-up look at live snakes, frogs, fish and more - all native to Minnesota. In addition, the Nature Center has many enjoyable educational programs for your children, family, community group or school. Springbrook offers year around opportunities to bring you closer to nature. The hiking trails provide an excellent opportunity for viewing native plants and animals. Springbrook’s visitors come from a wide geographic area—from more than 300 Minnesota communities, all 50 states and more than 60 foreign countries — of all ages, and diverse cultures. Springbrook is a valuable environmental science resource in the region, conducting curricula activities to schools (over 15,000 students per year) and other groups from more than 35 communities. Offerings include environmental science classes to pre k through college classes, team building adventure activities for all ages, nature hikes, live animal programs, exhibits and self led activities, all aimed at educating youth and adults about concepts in nature, actual contact with nature, and the importance of protecting and preserving the natural environment.
