“Camping & RV in GA”
Located on 71,100-acre Clarks Hill Lake near Augusta, this park is known as one of the finest bass fishing spots in the nation. Boat ramps provide easy access to one of the Southeast’s largest lakes. During the summer, guests can cool off at the sandy beach or on miles of shaded nature trails. Many programs are hosted throughout the year, such as astronomy programs, concerts and nature walks. Bike riders who explore this park can join the Muddy Spokes Club. Mistletoe State Park has 10 fully equipped cottages on the lake, five of which are log cabins. The campground is situated on a peninsula, offering spectacular views of both sunset and sunrise over the open water. A four-bed tent cabin with electricity and water faces the lake. Overnight guests may rent canoes to explore the large lake.

We visited Mistletoe State Park for one night so my husband could conduct business at Fort Gordon. Hurricane Irma had just passed through days before and there was still a lot of debris that the park was working on to clean up. One very large pine was laying across an RV from nose to tail. Looked like the scene was being left so an insurance company could come and see for themselves. It must have been a very scary and loud event. Praying no one was hurt.
We stayed at site #73 which was right beside Clarks Hill Lake. Our surge protector alerted us that the site's 30 amp hookup had reversed polarity. We let the office know. No one wants their appliances fried. The campground was almost empty, probably due to the recent storm.
Even in the state the park was in, it was easy to see that Mistletoe has a lot going for it. The lake was pretty, the sites weren't right on top of each other, and the employees were friendly. We took a hike right behind the Visitors Center. The path was made of a springy material that was starting to show signs of wear but was super comfy on the feet. After about .25 mile the path turned to regular dirt. It could be because of the storm, but the trail became hard to navigate after a while. Blazes were hard to see and the trail was covered. We found our way back eventually. It was an interesting excursion. We enjoyed seeing the gullies and learning a little from a sign on erosion, too.
There did not seem to be a lot to do in the surrounding area as far as shopping is concerned. However, we passed several historical buildings, cemeteries, and churches that would be interesting to visit. If we are ever in their neck of the woods again, I think we'd return.

My Sister and her family swear by this park. We were traveling through the area and decided to check it out. Very open and friendly, bath houses were functional but could have been a tad cleaner. Some sites were level and some not. Our site was a pull through and was a very tight fit even though our camper is slightly over 22 feet. Our site was not level from side to side, we were able to compensate with leveling blocks. Due to tree location we were forced to back up instead of pulling through.
Lake was low causing a access to be awkward due to the steep embankment.
Friendly staff and neighbors.
Minimal AT&T cell service at the office, none at our site.

There isn't a ton to do in the park but it was pretty and our dog enjoyed the walks. Bring your boat/kayak water access is everywhere. Otherwise limited recreation opportunities.

If you fish or boat, this park is a 5 Star. The lake is awesome and most sites have a beautiful view! The staff and camp hosts are very friendly and helpful. Restrooms and showers are fine. The bass fishing is supposed to be some of the best in the country! I will definitely bring my gear and a license the next time.

If you stay here get a site on the outside of the loop, or the lakeside. The park has sardined sites into the inside of each loop making for conflicts with noisy yapping dogs, music & trying to relax within ear & eyeshot of your neighbors. We will hope for a site at the nearby Winfield COE campground, more privacy for less money.

This was a great stay! I think this might have become a new favorite state park of mine in Georgia. Site 10 is right on the water. It was nice to be right at the edge of the lake (couldn't walk in right there though because of the rock edge and it was slightly deep). Just a few steps away though is a peninsula that has a small beach type area. I enjoyed 2 full days of sitting on my chair in the water reading my book. It was very relaxing. Site 10 is a little unique as it is 2 levels, which made it nice. If you have a size-able unit you will have to take caution backing in, and if there are cars parked in the turn around area you might have to have people move them, I did. When leaving I had to ask another person to move, as getting out I did have to pull out and use the full circle, and even back up to get out (with a TT or FW it wont' be as much of a problem). With the 2 levels, next time I am going to get the items out of the storage bays I need and will get even closer to the railing, as my awning provided decent shade for parts of the day over the lower area of the site. Going down the road into the site area, if you tow a dinghy i highly suggest that you disconnect once you arrive prior to going to your site, I had to because I needed to swing into the dump station to empty the gray tank after a few days of dry camping prior to arriving, and coming in needed to do a 3 point turn. When leaving by the time i got to the dump station I had the car hooked up and was able to go through no problem. When leaving this section you will also have to not have your car hooked up, as it is a narrow turn out, I took a right and went down and around another section, I wouldn't have made it to try a left hand turn. I say all of this not to scare but to make aware. I am probably one of the few people that will take a big rig into tight places, but I love to find these sites, and tight spaces don't really scare me. The park has a ton of lake front sites, there are 2 boat ramps in the state park. The lake is great for boating and/or jet skiing, tubing, etc. Sites are as you expect, fairly level (site 10 i just had to active the jacks just enough to put weight on them, no boards needed and excessive jacking not required), gravel, water hook-up and 30 amp service (camp ground does have some full hook-ups and some 50amp but their location isn't as nice as those without). I can't wait to go back to this campground, jet skis in tow!
