The Kawuneeche Visitor Center is at the western entrance of Rocky Mountain National Park one mile north of the town of Grand Lake, Colorado on U.S. Route 34. Open daily. Closed Dec. 25. Summer through Labor Day, 8 p.m. to 6 p.m. May and September, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Winter through early spring, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Take a walk with a ranger. Listen to illustrated programs on Saturday night. Watch a 20 minute film on the park (shown on request). Get oriented with the topographical relief map of the park. Learn about the Colorado River and its people. Buy a book. Reserve backcountry camping sites. Handicapped accessible restrooms available. The Kawuneeche Picnic Area has 6 picnic tables, 6 fire pits/grills and is open all year.
