“so much more than just a cave!”
Moqui Cave is a museum of artifacts, fossils and history, depicting life in southern Utah spanning the centuries. The cave’s history is as interesting as the artifacts contained within. A cool room in the back once housed a fully- operational tavern, where those wanting to imbibe could hide their “devil’s brew” from prohibitionists. Laura and Garth Chamberlain purchased the cave in 1951, rescuing it from years of nonuse. Putting a distinctively memorable dinosaur entryway on the front, the cave attracted curious travelers to investigate the unusual museum. The Chamberlains, along with their five children who helped operate the cave, worked hard at making Moqui Cave a first class tourist attraction. That same goal is continued today by Garth’s son and daughter-in-law, Lex and Lee Anne Chamberlain. A new cliff dwelling facade welcomes tourists to take a historical tour into the museum, with host Lex providing fascinating historical commentary. Your imagination will be piqued when you enter the cool sandstone cave and see the large collection of dinosaur tracks that once inhabited the area. The cave also boasts one of the largest fluorescent and fossil mineral displays in the country. Exhibits include more than 1,000 arrowheads, ceremonial points, jugs, pots, bowls and working tools of the Anasazi-Navajo for the “Ancient Ones” from centuries ago. Moqui Cave also has a gift store in a side sandstone chamber which features items for purchase including Indian arts and crafts, kachina dolls, rugs, pottery and turquoise.

Location on Roadtrippers is incorrect. It is located just past Kanab off of Center Street which turns back into 89. Note: the Caves are closed in the winter.
Not worth the time or the money. The picture depicting this attraction gives false hope for this tourist trap. Keep driving you’ll find better things for free.
Not worth the price of admission. Tourist trap.
It's a nice little stop with a cool family history story but not sure it's worth the admission fee.
This was a fun find! My kids love to look at rock specimens, and fluorescent rocks - even better. The shopkeeper gave a great historical overview of the cave. It was a fun stop!
Super disappointed.
Tourist trap, so that is why the 3 stars. But my 9 year old loved going into it and hearing about the history of the cave. They have a beautiful outside picnic shaded area that would make the stop worth it if you needed a place to use the bathroom and picnic after climbing in the nearby caves. They do sell coffees and light food as well.
The cave is an experience in itself and it’s a beast little museum/shop. Great history. Highly recommend a stop.
Definitely worth the stop! Family and pet friendly! My kids absolutely loved it! So much cool western history not to mention the amazing fossil and rock collection! Super inexpensive and the staff was incredible!
