What a wonderful place to stay! Clean and huge rooms. Staff was extremely nice and so helpful! I can't wait to come back to stay on our way back through!
Definitely the best of our 10 day Rt66 ‘motels’ experience. This place has been refurbished and the price was amazing. Pillows could’ve used an upgrade but the rest of the room was top notch. Clean and comfy. Definitely recommend!
When you drive along Route 66 and hit Texas, there are a few places to stay and it's very easy to overlook McLean. But, it's a charming little town, that's really fun to explore.
The Cactus Inn was built in 1956 and is an adorable little motel. If nothing else, pull over for a quick photo in front of the iconic "cactus sign."
Great overnight stay! Host was very accommodating. Spot is level, no problem to get into and out of with our 35 ft 5th wheel. Easy interstate highway on/off access but far enough away from the highway noise. We used the water and 50 amp hookups for the $20 fee as Harvest Host members. (May be different for non members) Campendium list it as having sewer access but the site does not have it. The Red River Steakhouse (Open Tuesday thru Saturday) is next to the Inn and is a good dinner option with fast, friendly service, tasty menu options and reasonable prices.

Booked this for a quick overnight as we were passing through the area. We took 287 to 273 to get to McLean and the drive in was beautiful. We communicated with the host the morning of arrival to notify them when we would be arriving. They messaged back within an hour or so, and asked us to pull in and check-in at the office to find our spot. We booked through hip camp and paid for electric and were pleasantly surprised to find full hookups available. The site was fairly level tucked behind the Inn. We enjoyed a quick dinner at the steakhouse nearby and had a very restful evening. Really quiet and safe area. We will definitely be back when passing through!

So excited when I found this place on my Route 66 adventure. It's an 1950s motel. The owners have brilliantly added a couple of RV spots. The spot under the sign is w/e. 50 amp. Water is on opposite side. The spot in the back is full hook up. Perfect for quick overnights for the weary I-40 traveler. Best part is this little town that is trying to make a come back. (Reminds me of the movie Cars) Everything is a short walk from the Inn. Enjoy Happy Hour at the Cactus Rose Taproom and relax in their lovely beer garden. Breakfast burritos are a must at the Chuckwagon. Walk over to the Devil's Rope and Route 66 museum (donations accepted), snapping pics of the murals along the way. Check out the gas prices at the first Phillips 66 opened in Texas. It's a fun stop and a great way to support local businesses!

Just off I-40 but travel noise minimal. Five stars for electric in August while traveling in high 90-degree temps. Cheaper than many HH after “donation,” but most HH have no power. Also felt safe. 50 amp fairly level pull-through. Stayed hooked up. Angela has an adapter for 30 if you need to borrow.

The wonderfully accommodating hosts make this an easy and relaxing spot. $25 for the water & 50 amp electric site tucked behind the giant cactus sign is a bargain. Site is level grass and has a picnic table. Another site, behind the motel, has FHU, and the facility can offer boondocking sites to several others.

We arrived around 3pm. The office had a note on the door, stating that the person in charge could be contacted at the
“Watering Hole”! Local bar!
I called the number, had to see this through!!!
Yep, she answered. Inquired about a space for the night. I was told they had space behind the Cactus sign, It should be noted that a some what inebriated person, sitting on a well worn chair outside her room, told me she knew nothing about an RV Park!
Back to the Watering Hole person……so we ended up try to choose between the sign and the back of the motel. This was supposed to be the “ Full hook-up site”! Both had 50 watt service only. The sign spot had just electric.
The Water hole person never showed up! We had 30 only.
So we left!
