“can't get any closer than this”
A family RV trip to the beach sounds like the perfect vacation… but finding the perfect place to put it in park is crucial to the trip. If you plan for a stay at Camp Gulf in Destin, Florida, though, you’re pretty much guaranteed an awesome getaway. Why? Because not every RV resort offers campsites right on the beach. Like, literally in the sand. Nope, this is not an island fantasy… this real-life Kokomo is for real! Their beachfront sites are, as they say, “as close as you can get” to the ocean, with the sand and waves right outside your door. That means incredible views of the water, 24/7. They also have other sites that aren’t on the shore— which means less sand, and a shorter walk to the solar-heated pool and activity center. Even the sites that are the furthest away from the beach are only a 5-minute walk. Should you ever tire of the beach (which seems impossible, right?) they offer water slides, a spa pool, ice cream socials, pancake breakfasts, basketball courts, even golf cart and yolo board rentals to make your beach experience even more enjoyable. If you’re traveling with friends or family who don’t have an RV, they’re welcome as well: Camp Gulf offers cabins and a massive beach house for rent! -Roadtrippers You can't get any closer than this! CAMP GULF is the Destination RV Park of Northwest Florida! Located between Pensacola and Panama City, Destin offers beautiful beaches, shopping, dining, boating, golf and much more.

We were there on 11/17/15, and stayed until 11/20/15. We had a great time. The enclosed pool and hot tub was great. There are plenty of things to do there. The beach is a lovely site. The people including staff were friendly and helpful.
Camp Gulf will remain on one of our places to stop.
Just stayed there and couldn't say enough good things about the place, the service, the friendly neighbors, closeness to everything, access to beach, and on and on and on.
Awesome place!!!!
Right on the beach so the sites were packed in closely. if you want to camp on the beach you can do that here but we did not do it. Bath house showers were individual and very nice. Daily activities in the winter at the club house.
A major criterion for our review is non-vehicular accessibility. We camp in a motor home without a towed vehicle so we rely on walking or our bicycles for transportation to stores if we stay in a location for an extended period. In that regard this was a great place. There is an outlet mall, restaurants and Winn Dixie grocery within easy walking distance. Also access to sidewalk system for walking and biking that extends for miles down the beach. As a result, access and location get five stars.

This campground lived up to the name that you can camp on the beach. Our beach site was great, water/electric services were offered with an option to have the black water tank emptied for a fee of $10.00. We had a campground employee come and dump our tanks one time during our stay. We enjoyed the friendliness and hospitality of the campground staff as well as the cleanliness of their facilities.

The only thing disappointing about our vacation was finding out that dogs are not allowed on the beach in this part of the state. There, got that out of the way.
Camp Gulf was our first resort stay since becoming rv'ers. I don't know what we were expecting, but the level of service and the quality and cleanliness of this facility blew us away.
Upon arrival we were guided to, and into, our site. Our tow dolly was taken to safe storage (did not miss tripping over the tow dolly all week!) and our week of feeling relaxed and cared for began.
The facilities are wonderful, Even though we did not need a shower house, this one is so nice and clean and nearly luxurious, that we ended up using it from time to time. Wonderful, clean laundry facilities made that dreaded chore a lot more pleasant. The grounds are so pretty and well maintained and winding paths are great for dog walks (or no-dog walks if you forgot to bring a canine)
The pools were beautiful and clean. One had more amusements for the young people, while the other seemed to attract a quieter crowd.
We loved the big gas firepit surrounded by beach chairs. We met some lovely people sharing the fireplace.
All of this, and I have not even talked about the main reason to go to Camp Gulf! The BEACH! Camp Gulf has a beautiful beachfront a quick walk from any campsite. We were almost at the furthest point away from the beach, and still found it a pleasant walk to and from the water.
After we left Camp Gulf and continued on our travels, we got a call from the resort office. It seems someone had found our dog's id tag somewhere in the resort, We knew he'd lost it and we'd already bought him another, but the office mailed his tag to us anyway. Just a little example of the excellent customer service and attention to each guest that we found to be consistenet throughout the staff.

It's all about the location. Stayed in 610 for 5 nights, upgraded to 812 (beachfront) for the last night. Was well worth it for 24 hours! Amazing place to stay right on the beach,
Traffic in Destin is rubbish... They are trying to fix it, but keep trying Destin!
The beach was amazing though, and worth it for the relax and stay. We barely left the park.

We stayed for 3 nights, and enjoyed every minute of it. The only thing I didn’t like was the price, but to be that close to the beach I guess it was worth it. I saw the review below that said something about not allowing dogs, we had our lab with us the whole time. There were also plenty of other pets around the campsite.

We absolutely love Camp Gulf. We've stayed there multiple times as it's an easy drive from our home in Nashville, TN. It's on the pricier side, but it's so stinking convenient, we just don't care. :P The park is right on the beach and you just can't beat that.
I'm not sure what an earlier review was talking about on their 1 star review re: pets. We have always taken our pets to Camp Gulf. The only rules are you can't have pets on one of the beach front sites, but pets aren't allowed on most Florida beaches, so I imagine it has something to do with that. There's a wonderful dog park just down the road that we like to take our pups to for running out their energy (there's not a dog park at the campground, but plenty of nice places to walk them and lots of people around to give them some love).
The sites can be quite tight and aren't the easiest to get into if you have a longer rig (our travel trailer is 37'), but they always escort you to your site and tell you how to get parked. They are total pros, so it's way less stressful.

It’s as close to the Gulf as you can get. You get the private beach of a condo with the experience of the RV. We’ve been the past 2 years and it’s been great both times. Beach spaces are crowded but understandably so.

I love this place. We stayed in 552, a “Beach B” site. Full hookup but tight spot. I did not mind as most of the time folks are at the beach or the pool or riding around on golf carts, etc. The staff are so friendly and helpful. The bath house was really nice, very clean. The pool could have been cleaner but as busy as it was I give them a pass. They have a food truck on site. I had shrimp tacos that were soooo good. There was a pizza place across the street that had decent pizza. They will deliver to your site which was great. We were there three nights and this made it where we did not need to leave. We will definitely be back.
Destin is doing a good deal of road work west of the Camp Gulf entrance. If you have the option of coming in from the East, I would do it.
