“riverboat history!”
In the 1800s steamboats made Jacksonport a thriving river port. During the Civil War, the town was occupied by both Confederate and Union forces because of its crucial locale. Jacksonport became county seat in 1854, and constuction of a stately, two-story brick courthouse began in 1869. The town began to decline in the 1880s when bypassed by the railroad. The county seat was moved in 1891 to nearby Newport, and Jacksonport's stores, wharves and saloons soon vanished.Today, exhibits in the park's 1872 courthouse and programs by park interpreters share the story of this historic river port. Admission to the courthouse is free. The park offers 20 Class A campsites with water and electric hookups including 50 amp service at all sites, a swimming beach on the White River, standard pavilion, picnic sites, playground, and the Tunstall Riverwalk Trail to stroll alongside the river..

Pulled over for the night. Very nice park. Maybe next time, we’ll be able to stay longer.
Got in late, pouring rain, no reservation. Camp Ranger was super helpful, got us into an overflow spot which has power and water. Bathrooms were very clean.

Stopped here over night while traveling. Clean facilities, little buggy but you are literally on the back of the White River. Easy site to get in to, set up was a breeze. Level and paved. Grass was mowed and was a good over all appearance.
Water was down and we even got in a little fishing.

Jacksonport has grown since we tent camped here years ago. Great new Visitors Center, still love the museum, the beach is pretty, but we miss the old Paddlewheel. Nice level sites and shaded.

The campground is nice and well maintained and sites are fairly well spaced with lots of grass, trees and open areas. The park staff were very friendly and helpful. We were in site 4 for 3 days. All of the sites looked quite level. There are quite a few depressions around the campground that filled with water when it rained, but the water tended to drain within a day or so. AT&T coverage was surprisingly good here, generally between 2-4 Bars of 5Ge service, with speeds up to 8 MB/s. There is no WiFi or cable hookup here. We were not able to get DISH satellite coverage at our site with our roof mounted dish due to the large trees around, though some sites would likely have coverage. We were also unable find any OTA DTV channels with our omni antenna.
Our RV Friendly GPS app did try to route us down a narrow gravel road to get here and also showed a section of road in the park that doesn’t exist. Even Google Maps routes you onto Redman St, which from the North, is a tight turn onto a narrow road and not one I wanted to make in our 36’ Class A with a toad. I would recommend coming into Jacksonport off of AR Hwy 69 and onto Avenue St, which is also a tight turn from the North, but the street is much wider, and is what we ended up doing - much more RV friendly.

Jacksonport is a lovely campground. Level sites, very spacious, and a beautiful location. (FYI: We hear the mosquitoes are bad in the summer). The visitors center is lovely and a great little museums on the 2nd floor. The staff go out of their way to be helpful and make you feel welcome.
Great playground, clean bathhouses, and perhaps the quietest campground we’ve ever experienced.
It so nice you hate to review it and share ;)

This park is managed by the friendliest State Park employees we have ever met. From the welcoming e-mail to the welcoming phone call (and check-in) to the welcome to Nature Jeopardy to the "thank you for staying with us" note upon return, I cannot say enough good things about this neat little park! It was neat as can be and the restrooms and playgrounds were spotless. Will definitely visit again.

Was slightly off our route but worth the trip. Sites are well spaced out and level. Facilities were clean and neat. We were here November 1 so I don’t know if being along the river would create a mosquito problem in the summer.
Some people mentioned gps issues. We were directed to use Avenue St. which is the way to go.

I liked this campground! It is small and not party central like so many. It’s right on the White River and the sites are well spaced.
While my Verizon service was only 2 bars, I was able to stream Apple TV+ on my phone with no spooling.

The staff here were super friendly during check in and very helpful. The park itself is beautiful with spacious camp sites. Plenty of room between sites and a 2 min walk down to the river. The drive in was very easy, all of the sites are angled to allow for easy backing in. I did not go into the bath house because it was being renovated. Great park, I will stay here again if I'm in town.
