“Temporarily closed”
Potentially re-opening in 2024. Five Volkswagen Beetles buried nose down in the ground, in an obvious tribute to the nearby "Cadillac Ranch."
We stopped here on our June 2021 road trip, heading out of Amarillo to Oklahoma City. The kids thought it was very fun (they still had their cans of paint from visiting Cadillac Ranch earlier that day). There are also some other neat abandoned buildings to explore and photograph on the site as well. If you're careful, you can actually get your kids into a few of the Slug Bugs for some fun pictures. Definitely worth a stop if you're heading down Rt. 66!
A neat stop along the way. Make sure you bring some spray paint to add your mark!
Loved it! Quick on/off the Highway. Lots of fun spray painting and taking pictures. Worth the stop. When we went we were the only ones there, so that was nice.
was the only person here on my stop! I explored the abandoned gas station and other buildings to stretch my legs after a long drive that morning. worth the stop, much less people than Cadillac Ranch
Lots to see here, not only the VW Beetles but also the deserted gas station and surrounding buildings. Smaller than the Cadillac Ranch but also less people.
No longer maintained and far from what’s pictured.
No longer there
The bugs got dug up
Stopped here in mid-October 2023 and left a mark. When I passed by again in late October, the VWs were unburied in preparation of moving to a new location.
Fun way to stretch legs.
