“Home of Abraham Lincoln's bloodstained pillow case”
The Grand Army of the Republic Memorial Museum, built and maintained by the National Woman's Relief Corps Inc., is the official auxiliary to the Grand Army of the Republic. The museum contains memorabilia, artifacts, papers, diaries, photos, weapons, journals of the GAR dating back to the 1870s, and a complete set of the "Official Records" of the "War of the Rebellion." The flag from the balcony of President Lincoln's box at Ford's Theater--the same one that John Wilkes Booth caught his spur in when he vaulted over the railing to the stage--is also on display. It was taken from Ford's minutes after Lincoln was shot.
