We stayed at the Old Barn Campground for just two nights, but it was enough to appreciate its charm. Biking 46 miles on the scenic trail was a highlight, followed by a refreshing swim in the pool. While cell service was limited, having WiFi at the barn was a nice touch. I’m already looking forward to our next visit, especially to explore the river activities!

We found this to be a clean, quiet campground. They are just getting back from the pandemic. The dining room is open, as is the covered pool. The food was good. I would camp here again.

I stayed here during the week so I don't know how busy it gets during the weekend. The sites are mostly grass but it varies depending on which area you are in I was in E which is meant for tents and pop-ups. At the top and bottom of the hill there are semi-permanent sites. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I didn't try the pool, the restaurant or the golf course but they looked nice. The showers are 0.25 for 7 minutes so make sure you have some quarters handy.
I did get on the Root River Trail do to some biking. From the campground there are three different spokes going to towns that are 7-8 miles away. the trail is all asphalt and since it is a rails to trails there aren't any steep grades. The trail was well maintained with very few bumps and some great scenery and bridges.
I have Verizon and my service varied depending on my location. The tower is to the SW over the hill. At my spot farther down the hill without a booster I barely had one bar.

Great campground with lots of amenities. But it's located in a slight valley and cell service is minimal on ATT, prepare for 1 bar, dropped calls. On T-Mobile, no service. On VZW it's 2 bars, about 30 mb down and 5 up. There is WIFI at the Barn, but it's about 3-5 mbps down, and 1 up.
If that's what you're into, this place is perfect. You can golf, swim, float down river, hang out, enjoy the campfires.
The location itself is already a winner! Not to mention the vast possibilities of relaxation you can do here.
