“Beautiful Limestone Cliffs”
Cave point is a popular site seeing stop for tourist who know the area well. It is often missed by many because it is a County Park and not a State or National Park. This does not mean that the view here is not spectacular because it is. It is known for its underwater caves and wave-worn limestone cliffs by fisherman, scuba divers, photographers and nature observers. It has picnic tables, cooking grills, fire rings, a well and new restrooms built in 2002. The road is blacktopped and the trails have had gravel put down for easy walking. Look for the signs on Highway 57. It is just North of Whitefish Dunes State Park. It is especially picturesque when the winds and seas are from the East. The winds blow the waves into the work away areas under the cliffs. When the waves break from this direction the resulting splash of water is beautiful to watch. During the Winter time, for the brave-hearted, you can see the winds, waves and freezing weather have coated the rocks and trees with a glistening coat of brilliant sparkling ice.

I visited this place a few weeks ago. The water was clear, but it had been raining a lat the few days before that. It was only about 68 degrees outside and the water was probably around 40 degrees. Otherwise, cliff jumping here would be like a dream! Under these cliffs are perfect depth waters which extend quite a ways out on the water before it gets deeper. Sometimes there's sand on the bottom but in some spots it's only rocks. There are plenty of semi-hidden spots and caves under the cliffs as well. I cannot wait to go back on a hot day when the water is a little bit warmer.
Cave Point County Park is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Door County, and for good reason. The park offers breathtaking views of Lake Michigan, 19 acres of hiking trails through beautiful woods, and plenty of opportunities to see wildlife up close. And one of the best ways to experience all that Cave Point has to offer is by kayak.
Kayaking to the sea caves at Cave Point is an unforgettable experience. The water is crystal clear, and the cliffs are beautiful. On calm days, you can even see the turquoise waters of Lake Michigan from the sandy beaches. And if you’re lucky, you might even catch a glimpse of a deer or two.
We think a visit here is one of the best things to do in Door County!
Amazing park for the off the beaten path adventurers. Cliff jumping into Lake Michigan, who couldn’t love this local fun!
A favorite for locals and visitors!
