“where history comes to life”
Live History at the Presidio San Agustin! Tucson's original Spanish Presidio was founded in 1775 and is located in the heart of Tucson's Old Town. This reconstruction on the original site shows what life was like in early Tucson in the 1700's and 1800's and is FREE. Museum exhibits tell about the activities of early settlers and show how they would have lived. Docents are available to answer questions. On given days Living History interpreters in period clothing bring life inside the walls of the fort as they churn butter, weave, forge iron and perform soldier drills. An original Sonoran row house from Arizona's Territorial period house the gift shop and Museum. Donations are appreciated.
