“fantastic home base for exploring it all”
Tybee Island, often referred to as Savannah’s Beach, offers visitors a place for all seasons with sandy beaches, great fishing, and rich history at every turn. River's End Campground is a fantastic home base for exploring it all. We're just 1.5 short blocks from the beach and an easy 15 mile drive to historic downtown Savannah. We have over 100 sites that offer services ranging from full hook-up capacity with water and sewer and free cable, to water and electric service only, as well as primitive tent camping sites. Some, but not all water-electric sites also have free cable. We offer a free Internet room during our office hours and free Wi-Fi for those who enjoy net surfing from their RV or picnic table.

It was a great campground, the primitive tent sites were all located together and were clean and quiet, with fire-rings and picnic tables to each site. The showers/bathrooms were private, large enough to be comfortable and most importantly were air conditioned -got to shower and dry off comfortably. The rest of the campground seemed very friendly and family oriented. Only downside was the intense humidity, bugs and the slightly uneven-ness of the tent site we were in. Otherwise, great stay and a great area to wander around and explore.
Our goal is not to spend $50/night for a site at an RV park, but, because every other park near the Savannah, GA area was booked (it was Thanksgiving weekend) and we wanted to visit the city, we stayed here. It was very busy when we arrived on Thanksgiving weekend, and then, it cleared out during the week, which was nice. We arrived after dark, and we escorted to our site - the staff was very helpful and timely.
This RV park is very convenient to the island's downtown, but, because we visited this park in the off-season, and a few weeks after Hurricane Matthew hit this area, many restaurants and stores that we would have liked to visit were closed.
This area is definitely meant to be stayed at during the peak season, but, the park would most likely be even more expensive. For us, this RV park and area were not worth the price that we paid.

This is an incredibly popular campground due to its location. Being on Tybee Island, it is within walking distance of the beach and is an easy bike ride away from the main street with all the typical beach town tourist attractions. So if you want to be in the middle of the action on Tybee Island, this is probably your best bet. Next time however, we would probably try for the state park first.
The campground is kept up and clean. However, they have squeezed a lot of sites into a very small footprint. You are right on top of your neighbors. Also, the turns are tight getting into and out of your site. If you have a big rig, take care. When departing, you are asked to hook up your toad before you exit the campground (not on the adjacent public street per signage). We would not have able to make the turn to exit the campground with our car hooked up. So we ended up hooking up out on the busy main road.
The staff was friendly. The facilities were nice. The WiFi worked for basic email. The analog cable TV had plenty of stations. Plus we were able to pick up all the normal Over-the-air stations via antenna from Savannah. Verizon worked well also.
If you have a burning desire to go to Tybee Island and don't mind spending major bucks on a small campsite, this place works. It just didn't work for us.

We followed the directions provided by the campground on their website. It was spot on accurate.
Check in was quick and easy. They provide escort services to your site. There is a genuine customer service vibe in this park.
Site was heavily shaded and level. Site is large stone gravel. Power, water, and cable conveniently located on one pedestal. Site included a clean picnic table and fire ring.
WiFi was easily accessible and fast. Never experienced any latency during our visit.
Bathhouses were exceptionally clean. Water temp and pressure was great. The bathhouse is made up of individual rooms that contained a toilet, sink, hand dryer, and shower in each. Towel hooks close to shower.
Park was quiet after 10pm.
Had 1 bar AT&T LTE.

The campground is kept in beautiful shape but the spots are very close together. The staff was friendly and were very helpful when we had a minor issue.
The beach is in walking distance and town was easily accessible by bike. If you drive your car into town be prepared to spentd plenty of money on parking.
It’s a great place to visit the beach if you have some extra money. We hope to return soon.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at River's End. Clean facilities, great bath houses, most helpful and cheerful staff. HOWEVER, brochure states ocean is 3 blocks away from campground. HUH? Blocks were longer than a football field, which meant a 30 minute walk, 10 minute bike ride, and if you had to take a vehicle the cost to park was $2.00 per hour. Asked lot enforcer cost of violations. $35.00 if no sticker on dash, $25.00 if expired. WOW! Am not in favor of going to beach and having to check watch to see if parking had expired. Bottom line and reason for not going back is that when I camp at the "beach" I want to hear the surf and smell the salt air. Feel the stated information was misleading at best.

It’s a lot of money for a campground, but it’s the location. About 3 blocks from the beach. 30 min. From savannah.
The campground itself is great. You are really packed in tight, but it seemed like you had your privacy. Bath house where great, pool was great. Campground was really clean.
A lot of activity durning the day, but about 900 pm everything become quiet.

Clean, quiet, good location near ocean and Savannah. Friendly staff. Laundry, store, pool. No playground. Pavilion that shows the major sporting events. Gravel sites. Clean showers and bathrooms. Some along back are at a steep slant and back up to houses (these are the ones closest to water side). You are 10 feet from your neighbor with no vegetation or privacy in between. They used every single available space on this property that was possible. Even turned the dump station into a site. NO DUMP STATION so if you get a spot with only W/E, be aware of that.

Let’s face it, you book this campground because of the location. It’s the only campground on Tybee Island. And we have no complaints about it. Everything is clean and in working order. The staff are very friendly and even escort you to your site when you arrive. Some sites are small but ours have plenty of room. If you’re going to be spending a lot of time at the campground outside of your camper, make sure you spend a few extra minutes talking to the staff and getting a larger site. Not all sites are equal. But there is no downside to this campground. The location is amazing. We are fat and out of shape. And we still walked to the beach and the lighthouse. Lol Maybe three blocks away. And this is to North Beach. All the tourist are on the south end of the island. So while there are a lot of people at North Beach, it is only a fraction of how busy it would be on the other end. Never bother going to the South Beach or the pier. Stick with the north beach side. Parking is expensive, $28 a day. But when you’re this close, just grab your chair, towel, and walk.
