This state park is right on the Missouri River, behind the Gavin’s Point Dam. There are campgrounds all around the lake here, some South Dakota state parks, Nebraska state park, Army Corps of Engineers, and private RV Parks.
This South Dakota state park is my favorite because almost every site has an amazing view of the lake and the bluffs on the other side. There are numerous beaches for swimming, walking/biking trails throughout the park, and hiking trails nearby to some amazing views. The bathrooms and showers are very well-maintained and clean.
This campground is about 5 miles from Yankton, SD, which has a very nice downtown district. I would recommend checking it out.
There are gas stations and restaurants near the campground as well. Other business include a go-kart track and mini golf course, water sports rentals, and laser tag.
State Park permit is also required for this campground. It’s about $30/year or $6/day.

Beautiful park, very hard to get reservations. They allow campers to bring units and occupy sites for days before they show back for the weekend. Frustrating.

Amazing campgrounds! A beautiful area that I would highly recommend to anyone, but especially water lovers!!! The campsites are all very close to the river!
