Great site for one or two days stay one your way to something else. Facility was clean and great to have a swimming pool after a hot day. Only down side were the metered showers.
We hit more KOA's recently to let the 3 yr old play on the playground and jumpy pillow and know we can get laundry done while we're there. This one was pretty standard.

We stayed with dzimstream overnight on our way to Mojave. Its a great KOA - clean laundry, the jumpy pillow was great, as was the little playground. Our kids had fun. I also liked the bushes between sites, it gave a little more privacy than usual.

This place has everything you need for an overnight stay while en-route to another destination. It's located right next to the interstate near an easy off ramp so it's an easy access with nearby fuel stations. It's just down the road from Calico Ghost town and 5 miles from the city of Barstow which is where we had dinner.
Check in was uneventful and we were located in a gravel (cinders) pull-through site next to the dump station...not my first choice of sites. I was hoping the site would be a bit longer so I wouldn't have to unhitch for an early morning departure, but no such luck. Our site was not planned very well with the electrical post, cable, and water located toward the front of the site and the sewer outlet was located more toward the back of the site. It was a long reach for the hose and power cord, since our hookups are located near the rear of our trailer.
The dog park was close by which our 2 Labrador retrievers were thankful for, although there was nothing but desert out there so they could run anywhere. The owners were adamant about picking up after them though. We didn't use any of the bathrooms, shower facilities or pool so will not comment on those.
The freeway noise was constant but we mainly stayed in the trailer at night so it didn't bother us too much. I would stay here again overnight, but certainly not as a destination.

Very hot weather. Nice attempt at making some privacy with hedges and trees. Staying just one night so really didn't check out much. Suitable. typical KOA.

Would have been nice to have been warned that the water would be shut off at night due to low temperatures. Since it happened the next night to someone else we know, who also was not told in advance, it wasn't as though it was an unexpected emergency measure by the campground staff.

We have stayed at this KOA a number of times. This time we were with friends to go to Calico and visit Barstow. Usually we stop here before heading into the "hot country" and out of S Calif or as a stop over before back to Jamul, CA. This is a very good convenient place to stop with good utilities and easy in and out sites. We belong to the KOA club so rates are not too bad.

Sites are full hook-ups. Typical KOA with very close sites.
Although not awful, I would not describe it as “clean”. My guess is that they have a high turnover of nightly guest that leave basic trash around the sites.
We had a pull through site that was level enough. We did experience some issues with the electricity when trying to run the air conditioning. Park was full so maybe low amperage.
$45 seems like a lot for a very basic pull through site. Lots of highway noise.

Coming from the San Francisco Bay Area, we used this as an overnight stop on our way to Arizona.
We requested a pull-through site in our reservation so we wouldn't have to disconnect our trailer. We came in late at night, our site info and map were set out for us at the check-in booth, and the site provided the space and hookups we needed for the quick overnight stop.
Based on the number of other campers who came in during the evening hours and left early in the morning, this no-frills campground likely caters to travelers looking for a one-night stopover.
Overall: clean, safe, quiet and conveniently close to the highway.

The campground is a desert campground so it's hot and dry. There are some shady sites. They have a few sites with 50 amp service and more with 30 amp.
Our major problem was that when I called, I asked if they had 50 amp and reserved a 50 amp site. Turns out they did not have any 50 amp sites, they had all been booked for weeks. Our motorhome was having trouble and we couldn't go look for another campground once we got there. They lied to us and it cost us a lot of discomfort. They also moved us 3 times to different sites under the guise that they were 50 amp but they were not. We ended up in a site with no shade at all and no 50 amp service. That means we could only run one air conditioner and the temps were 110F. Not fun.
The campground is really trying and I would have been happy with the experience except that they lied to us about the site we were getting. They have a pool that looked really nice. They had an air-conditioned store and main building as well as an air-conditioned room near the pool where people could hang out. They had a little store that had lots of cold drinks and basic supplies.
